In a groundbreaking venture towards sustainable innovation, Ramon Skåne and Hendrik Gildenhuys both Environmental Engineering students at Murdoch University, have emerged as finalists in Murdoch University's prestigious "Think Big" program and set their sights on a revolutionary startup idea with Reformix Materials Group. 🚀🌿🌍
A Sustainable Vision with Eco-Concrete

Driven by a commitment to combat climate change, Ramon and Hendrik endeavour to revolutionize concrete production by ingeniously repurposing 300,000 tonnes/year of Collie fly-ash, an industrial by-product of power stations, along with 1.5 million tonnes of construction waste in Perth. Together, these resources birth an innovative, eco-friendly geopolymer concrete named "Eco-Concrete." 🏗️🔄
This environmentally conscious creation not only minimizes waste by utilizing recycled materials but also substantially reduces greenhouse gas emissions by eliminating the need for conventional Portland Cement—an industry that contributes approximately 8% of global CO2 emissions, more than all the car exhaust emissions from China, the United States and Europe combined. Eco-Concrete boasts diverse applications in civil infrastructure, from freeway barriers to seawalls, perfectly aligning with Western Australia's sustainability objectives. It not only aids in reducing carbon emissions but also serves as a catalyst for job creation and industry diversification, particularly in Collie, a significant step towards fostering sustainability. 🌱♻️💼
Nurturing Innovation through ‘Think Big’ and Looking Ahead

Reflecting on their journey with the ‘Think Big’ program, Ramon and Hendrik found themselves immersed in a sea of valuable learning experiences. From insightful masterclasses on market analysis to networking with like-minded entrepreneurs, the program offered a fertile ground for growth and innovation. Grateful for the wisdom and networking opportunities provided by Think Big, Ramon and Hendrik are determined to propel Eco-Concrete as a frontrunner in Australian innovation, championing environmental conservation while delivering eco-conscious solutions to the market. 🌟🌏🎓💡
Looking Ahead: Reformix's Sustainable Future
As Reformix continues to push the boundaries of sustainability and innovation, Ramon and Hendrik's commitment to pioneering eco-friendly practices remains unwavering. They envision Eco-Concrete as the epitome of Australian innovation, leading the charge against waste landfilling, linear economy thinking, environmental pollution and climate change. 🌐🌿
Witness Reformix's journey of innovation and sustainability unfold. Stay tuned for more updates! 📰✨
