Fly Ash

Fly ash is a versatile aluminosilicate material with significant potential for sustainable construction and advanced cementitious systems. At Reformix, we source, characterise and supply high-quality fly ash feedstocks suitable for geopolymer, supplementary cementitious material (SCM), and tailored binder applications.

We recognise that not all fly ashes are equal. Variability in bulk chemistry, amorphous content, and crystallographic composition can significantly influence performance. Our proven approach combines detailed materials analyses with application-driven formulation to ensure consistent, fit-for-purpose outcomes.

Amorphous Silica

Micronised amorphous silica powder is a cutting-edge solution for sustainable concrete production, offering a unique combination of environmental and performance benefits. This eco-friendly additive sourced from industry by-products enhances the durability and strength of concrete while significantly reducing its carbon footprint.

By incorporating amorphous silica, concrete mixtures achieve superior binding properties, improved water retention, and increased resistance to chemical and environmental stressors. Its natural pozzolanic reaction reduces the need for traditional cement, leading to lower CO2 emissions and a more sustainable construction process.

Calcined Clay & Metakaolin

Calcined clays, known more technically as metakaolin, are refined aluminosilicate materials produced through the controlled calcination of kaolinitic clays. Its high reactivity and consistent composition make it an effective supplementary cementitious material and geopolymer precursor.

At Reformix, we focus on the characterisation and application-driven use of metakaolin to improve mechanical performance, reduce permeability, and enhance resistance to chemical degradation. Its ability to contribute to refined microstructures and improved early-age strength makes it suitable for demanding structural and specialty applications.

When integrated into optimised mix designs, metakaolin supports reduced Portland cement content, lower carbon emissions, and enhanced durability across infrastructure, precast and high-performance concrete systems.

Activator Solutions

Activator solutions are critical to the stability, repeatability and performance of alkali activated, alternative cementitious and/or geopolymer systems. Reformix develops and supplies optimised alkaline activator solutions designed for laboratory precision and industrial scalability.

Our approach integrates thermochemical modelling, feedstock sequencing control, and quality assurance protocols to ensure solution stability and predictable reaction kinetics. By controlling mix sequencing and stabilisation behaviour, we reduce variability, minimise waste, and improve production efficiency.

Properly designed activator systems enable consistent geopolymer synthesis, improved compressive strength development, and streamlined manufacturing processes - supporting the transition from research-scale innovation to commercial implementation.
